Fokker Elmo (2006)

paperless manufacturing cell

summary

Fokker Elmo is a manufacturer of high-tech electrical systems for aerospace and defense markets. In order to streamline their manufactoring process, Syndicat was approached to create a software application which could replace their piles of instructional manuals on the workfloor.

intuitive touch-screen navigation

The application, stored on handheld touch-screen devices, contains all necessary information for the mechanics to complete various assembling jobs. To minimize the interference of the device within the manufactoring process, the device features easy to use touch-screen navigation. Most of the navigation within the application, can be done with one hand.

illustrations and explainatory icons

To provide visual cues during assembling, a simple illustrational graphic style has been developed. The rigid and simple illustrations are clear, yet easy to recreate for non-graphic designers. A set of pre-fabricated icons where also provided to highlight important parts of illustrations.

important notes

I have contributed on this project with additional interaction design, the visual design of the application and the development of the illustrational graphics. Ecommany is responsible for the technical realisation of the application.
